Oven Cleaning – Something’s Cooking In The Kitchen

May 3, 2019 by executivemaids Leave a Comment

Before we go any further on this, let’s just get something out in the open right away. If you happen to own something called a ‘self-cleaning’ oven, take a really, really good look at the type of clean you are getting from that supposedly special feature. Trust us, your oven will be in need of a good old-fashioned scrubbing sooner or later – even if it is a self-cleaning style.

Oven cleaning is not fun. Regardless of how you plan or execute the plan. But at Executive Maids, we’re experts at cleaning ovens. It’s true and here are a few tips on how to give your oven the best cleaning it has ever experienced.

Step 1 – Materials

You can’t clean anything if you don’t have the proper gear to get the job done. Your list of materials required to clean your oven is not extensive. There’s really just six items on it. They include water, a spray bottle, baking soda, vinegar, a rag and a small bowl. Intrigued, yet?

Step 2 – Prep The Work Site

You can’t get anything done if your oven looks like a disaster zone. So, with this in mind, remove the oven racks and soak ’em  in a large trash bag with hot water and vinegar. Tie it closed and let sit in your bath tub overnight.  Clear a space around the oven so you can easily move around and not bump into anything or anyone.

Step 3 – Mix Your Solution

All you will need is a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda with some water. Mix into a paste in the bowl as pastes are fun and they are also easy to spread on surfaces.

Step 4 – Spread ‘Em!

Cover the inside of the oven with the paste you just finished making and snapping a selfie with. It is going to turn brown on you and that will tell you it is working. Let the goop-covered oven sit overnight, or at least twelve hours.

Step 5 – The Oven Cleaning Part

After at least twelve hours have passed and you’ve come to realize that your kitchen functions far better when the oven operational, get a firm grip on a wet rag. Use it to carefully remove as much of the brown goop as possible from the inside of the oven.

Step 6 – The Final Touches

With your spray bottle, add some vinegar and spritz the spots inside the oven where the goop still appears. Give those areas a wipe with the wet rag.

Step 7 – The End

Put the racks back inside the oven and turn it on to a very low temperature for about 15-minutes. This will speed up the drying process.
