If you are like most people, you probably dislike having to keep up a regular house cleaning schedule.

In today’s world of everyone in the family working, there’s barely enough time in a day to get to some of these chores. Spring cleaning just puts more pressure on the need to tidy up your living space. But without a maid service to rely on, chances are that whatever housecleaning you do, you are missing some key places. It’s okay, it’s not your fault.

Here is our list of the top 5 forgotten places to clean in your home.

1 – Lampshades

If you already give these a dusting and vacuuming, give yourself a pat on the back. Believe it or not, this handy little light diffuser is often missed during a cleaning blitz. Using a microfibre cloth can pick up even the smallest things missed by your vacuum cleaner. For extra points, use a lint roller to really capture all the micro-bits that get past the vacuum and the cloth.

2 – Doorframes

Sure, you may already dust or wipe the tops of doors. But that’s just half of the job. If you do dust the tops of bookcases, cupboards and light fixtures, why not add doorframes to that list? You may need a stepstool to get the job done correctly, but it’ll be worth it. The top of doorframes are dust magnets so use a microfiber cloth and expect it to get dirty.

3 – Washing Machine

What? You’d think that with every load of wash you do that the washing machine is sort of a self-cleaning appliance. Sadly, that is far from true. Yes, regular cleaning of the lint trap helps but the machine itself could use a good cleaning every so often. Start with a cycle of white vinegar. Follow that up with a cycle of water vinegar and dish washing soap.

4 – Shower Curtains

If you take care of your shower curtain and liner each time you scrub out the tub or shower, you get to move to the head of the class. The easiest way to clean these items is to toss them into the washing machine. Use a little white vinegar in the water. If there is an over abundance of mold growth, you’d be further ahead to retire this set and introduce a new curtain and liner.

5 – The TV

Pretty much everyone wipes down the front of their television, right? You may even give the top and sides a quick dusting or wipe down. But do you also clean the back of it? Static electricity is the culprit here creating all kinds of dust bunnies if left alone. By vacuuming the back of the TV and wiping it down with a microfiber cloth, you’ll find they will last longer.
